Marine Corps Base
Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii
India Company 3/3/3 was my first permanent duty assignment on Okinawa. I have always had a great nostalgia for this unit and recently learned they were now at MCB Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Coincidentally, I was planning a vacation trip to Oahu
and Maui.
I contacted Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Robert D. Clark, who graciously accepted my e-mail and phone contact, and made my visit to my old unit possible. At Battalion Headquarters, he also generously presented me with an Honorary Unit
Coin for Third Battalion, Third Marines -- America's Battalion.
Lt. Colonel Clark further arranged for me to meet the India Company Commander, Captain James G. Sweeney. Captain Sweeney gave me a base tour and took me to lunch with Company 1st. Sgt. Pintos; Company Gunnery Sgt. Garcia and several other
officers and NCO's. At Company Headquarters, Captain Sweeney and Gunny Garcia presented me with a copy of the ?NCO Creed? and a ?Company I 3d Bn. 3d Mar? cap. I will wear it proudly.
Pictured below is Lt. Colonel Clark, and photos of me with Captain Sweeney and 1st. Sgt. Pintos. The courtesy and professionalism of all these officers and NCO's made me very proud to have once been in their unit. My special thanks to
Captain Jim Sweeney who personally made my visit a memorable one!
